• Ann Miracle was featured in the Feb. 17, 2009 edition of the New York Times and on NPR for her research in detecting brain injuries in salmon from hydroelectric dams. It's featured on the PNNL website.
• Joel Pounds and Doug Ray organized the AAAS session entitled Driving Beyond our Nano-Headlights. The well attended session was held on Feb 14th in Chicago. IL.

• Kudos to a PNNL team that included Bobbie-Jo Webb-Robertson and Jason McDermott who captured the "Best Overall" entry at the Supercomputing '08 High Performance Computing Analytics Challenge in Texas where they demonstrated that genome sequence analysis can be made interactive and intuitive to help researchers find hidden relationships in massive amounts of data.
• Scott Baker was appointed by the National Academy of Sciences as a delegate to the International Union of Microbiological Societies (IUMS). He was also elected as the IUMS Mycology Division vice-chair.
• S.K. Sundaram was recommended by his peers and accepted as a Professional Fellow in the Society of Nanoscience and Nanotechology.
• Justin Teeguarden has accepted the invitation to be a keynote speaker for a seminar on "In Vitro Exposure Studies for Toxicity Testing of Engineering Nanoparticles" in Karlsruhe, Germany in Sept. The seminar is organized by the Association for Aerosol in conjunction with the European Aerosol Association.
• Stayed tuned: Galya Orr and Barbara Tarasevich will have their research published in and featured on the cover of the April 15th issue of Toxicology and Applied Pharmacology.
